What’s going on from mid to end of June 2013 in Lake George, NY and the region? The Summer season has now started, schools are getting out, the weather is beautiful, and there’s plenty to do… why not take a June vacation?
Here’s some more information on some of the highlighted June events:
The 2013 Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association (HVVFA) Convention & Parades (June 19-22, 2013) – Celebrating it’s 124th year! This annual Lake George Region event, that commemorates the volunteer firemen & their service, is hosted by The West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company this year. This convention is held at their Firehouse at 33 Luzerne Road in Queensbury (Auxiliary Convention is held nearby at the West Glens Falls EMS), and the two parades take place on Luzerne Road… The Mardi Gras “Best in the West” Themed Parade is on Friday, June, 21st at 7PM, and the Full Dress Parade is on Saturday, June 22nd at 1PM. Parade Route: from the corner of Indiana Avenue, east down Luzerne Road, ending at the corner of Richardson Street (off Exit 18 of I-87 The Adirondack Northway). On Friday, June 21st, there is also an EXPO with vendors at the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company from 9AM to 2PM and again during the Mardi Gras Parade from 7-10PM. On Saturday, June 22nd, there will be outdoor festivities at the Firehouse following the Dress Parade including: food, drinks, craft vendors, live entertainment and fireworks. SummerFest 2013 in Lake George Village (June 21-23, 2013) – This 26th annual event officially marks the beginning of the summer season in Lake George with its popular lakeside Craft Show including skilled artists, artisans and craftsmen, as well as kids’ activities (children’s playland) and entertainment in the park, featuring this year’s show, the “Pianist Sergei.” All Summerfest activities take place 9AM-6PM within Shepard Park, located directly in the heart of Lake George Village. SummerFest has transcended into a Village-wide summer celebration… walk around the lake, visit the shops, restaurants and attractions, and enjoy the activities. In fact, on Saturday of Summerfest Weekend, visitors will get a special treat … The Supernova Dog Disc Show (June 22, 2013) – featuring world champion Angelo Marinakis and his dog disc team performing 11AM & 2PM at Battlefield Park on Beach Road, part of the grand re-opening event of The Dog Cabin on Montcalm Street (thedogcabinlg.com)
37th Annual Adirondack Distance Run (June 23, 2013) – A 10 mile USATF certified race from Lake George Village to Bolton Landing. Beginning at 7:30AM, runners will start at the Lake George Firehouse on Ottawa Street, run north along Route 9N/ Lake Shore Drive, and end at Bolton Landing’s Rogers Memorial Park, followed by raffle prizes and an awards ceremony at 10AM for top 3 male & female runners and for the fastest time for each individual age. Women in Need Golf Tournament Benefit (June 24, 2013) – The Lake George Region Women for W.I.N. Inc. will be hosting their 4th Annual Women In Need (WIN) Golf Tournament Benefit at Cronin’s Golf Resort in Warrensburg, to raise money for women and families in need in the Greater Lake George Region communities. Why not enjoy the beautiful Adirondacks and play some golf, while at the same time help those in need.
