• Sailing on Lake George

There is hardly a day from spring to late fall (and even early winter!) when sails and colorful spinnakers don’t grace our beautiful lake.  Sailing on Lake George is alive and well with sailors from 7 to 80+ sailing the likes of Optimist dinghies, Lasers and Sunfish to J22’s, J24’s and up to 35’ cruising boats.

Sailing is easy, fun and relaxing.  It’s also fast, thrilling and breathtaking.  The basics can be taught in a 2 hour period, giving the beginning sailor enough knowledge to cast off in a small boat and explore the many beautiful islands and coves of Lake George.  Sailing schools on the lake offer private lessons of a full 2-day comprehensive course.

For the competitive sailors, the Lake George Club and the Northern Lake George Club offer one design racing for their members.  The Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club offers a full program of handicap rated racing and socializing for all Lake George sailors, and Y-Knot, Association for Disabled Sailors, offers sailing and racing for their members.  Wednesday night races are open to all Lake George sailors.  Wednesday racing starts at 6PM between Long Island and Yankee Marina.  Sail on Lake George.  There’s nothing better!
