• Lake George Dinner Theatre 2011: Skin Deep

The Lake George Dinner Theatre will kick off our 44th season with a new play and a newly renovated performance space at the Holiday Inn Resort in Lake George.

The play is SKIN DEEP by Manhattan playwright, Jon Lonoff and the Dinner Theatre production will be the regional premiere of this delightful comedy. In SKIN DEEP, Sheila Whiting tries to arrange a blind date for her large, lovable, but spinsterish sister, Maureen, without even knowing the fellow she’s matchmaking with her sister. The result is a delightful comedy about last-chance-romance and the perception of beauty. As Maureen struggles with her self-image and the delightfully sweet advances of her date, Joseph Spinelli, Sheila’s husband vainly attempts to control his wife’s obsession with plastic surgery and his own flirtatious nature.

Said Producer Terry Rabine, “SKIN DEEP was selected for our 2011 season in part because the play is populated with likeable, familiar characters and a plot that will appeal to all audiences. Because last season’s production of OUR SON’S WEDDING dealt with a somewhat controversial look at a family coming to terms with their son’s upcoming gay marriage, we wanted to balance our entertainment offering with a more mainstream production this year and we think Mr. Lonoff’s play is a great choice.”

LGDT is equally excited to move into a newly renovated performance space at the Holiday Inn Resort. Over the winter and spring, the Holiday Inn has been upgrading the banquet space to both accommodate more meetings and special events as well as enhancing the Dinner Theatre experience with additional access to the theatre, improved sound and lighting equipment, state-of-the-art climate control, new artwork, and improved audience seating and sightlines. Patrons should find their dinner theatre experience more comfortable while continuing to enjoy the intimacy and first-class tableside service that make LGDT such a unique theatre experience.

The Lake George Dinner Theatre opens its 2011 season on July 14 and runs thru October 29. For more information or to make reservations, call (518) 668-5762 ext. 411 or log onto www.lakegeorgedinnertheatre.com.
