Come and visit Lake George, NY in March. 2013 is filled with fun & exciting events & activities for the whole family to enjoy all throughout the month, including special St. Patrick’s Day & Easter happenings.

To begin, Maple Sugar Tours are one of the most notable events during March in the Lake George Region. Experience the process of which the sap from New York State maple trees is tapped, collected, boiled, and made into pure maple sugar and syrup. Thurman Maple Days is an annual drive-yourself tour featuring many Thurman maple sugaring farms open for demonstrations, talks & samplings (during three weekends this March). Up Yonda Farm Environmental Education Center in Bolton Landing will also showcase their maple sugar farm on three Saturdays in March, and the Gore Mountain Maple Festival will be featuring maple sugary treats & maple demonstrations from local sugar farms on Sat., March 30, 2013. This 2013 year marks the Bicentennial of Warren County (1813-2013). To commemorate this 200th anniversary year, there will be many bicentennial celebrations happening throughout the county all through the year. March, in particular, will be hosting two very unique events. On Tues., March 12, 2013 at 2PM, area Warren County churches will be ringing their church bells simultaneously for 5 minutes, in remembrance of the incorporation of Warren County, New York on March 12, 1813. Eighteen churches will be participating including Caldwell Presbyterian Church, St James’ Episcopal Church, and Sacred Heart Church in Lake George. Fri., March 15, 2013 is Warren County Proclamation Day – join with Warren County Board of Supervisors for State & Assembly proclamations, slide presentations & more at the Warren County Municipal Center in Lake George. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Weekend in Lake George Village at the Sham “Rock” the Block on Sat. & Sun., March 16 &17, 2013 – featuring traditional Irish food & music, beer garden, Celtic games, and kid’s activities on lower Amherst Street, as well as a St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Sun. only at 12Noon) down Canada Street. Indian Lake is also having a St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Celebration, and Albany will be having their 63rd Annual Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sat., March 16, 2013. A week after St. Patrick’s Day on Sun., March 24, 2013… don’t miss out on the Adirondack Runners‘ annual Shamrock Shuffle (a 5 mile fast run) & The Leprechaun Leap (7/8 mile kid’s fun run) at Glens Falls High School

The Lake George Land Conservancy’s Winter Warm Up on Sat., March 23, 2013 (9AM-1PM) is an annual family event featuring homemade soups & breads, toasting marshmallows by the bonfire, live raptor & wildlife presentations, nature scavenger hunts, crafts, storytelling, games, local fish display, maple syrup samplings, hiking, snowshoeing, and more. This Lake George Land Conservancy event will be taking place at the Lake George Recreation Center/Berry Pond Preserve on Transfer Road in Lake George from 9AM-1PM.

Experience Easter morning on Sun., March 31, 2013 in a unique & glorious way. Enjoy an Easter Sunrise ecumenical service overlooking beautiful Lake George on the pier in Shepard Park. Or partake in the sunrise non-denominational service with singing, instrumentals, and an Easter brunch buffet at Gore Mountain in North Creek. Other March 2013 events include: the Great Upstate Boat Show at the Adirondack Sports Complex (The Dome) in Queensbury, performances at the Charles R.
