architecture, and furniture from throughout the region. View some of the best

Camps" (such as Camp Pine Knot, Camp Uncas, Camp Kill Kare, and Camp

Historical Museum" - photographs and exhibits feature hotels, old tools,
boats, ice harvesting equipment, local businesses, steamboats, camping, ice

regional history and the Adirondack wilderness. In these exhibits,
explore outdoor recreation, transportation, the fine arts, work and industry,

"Boats & Boating in the Adirondacks" - illustrating the

"Works in the Woods: Logging in the Adirondacks" - exploring
the history and traditions of the timber industry. Discover the tools
used and species harvested in the Adirondacks and products made of wood.
See what life was like in a logging camp and how the industry has changed. 5.
"Bull Cottage: Adirondack Rustic Furniture" - displaying
important examples of Adirondack rustic furniture. 6.
"The Buck Lake Club: An Adirondack Hunting Camp" - a unique
20th Century one-room log cabin used as a hunting camp. 7.
"The Log Hotel: Hotels, Camps and Adirondack Clubs" - the 1876
Log Hotel's lobby and a guest room will help visitors imagine the early days of
tourism in the Adirondacks; enjoy artifacts that relate to travel,
lodging, private camps and clubs. 8.
"Woods and Water: Outdoor Recreation in the Adirondacks" -
displays of hunting, fishing, camping and hiking equipment; explore outdoor
recreation in the late 1800's and early 1900's. 9.
"The Great Outdoors" - an exhibition just for children and families
featuring hands-on discovery stations all about outdoor sports. Cook a
meal over the campfire, take a nap in the tent, use snowshoes in the summer
time or try rock climbing. 10.

Country: Early Reflections of the Adirondacks" - paintings, maps,
prints and photographs illustrate the untamed Adirondack wilderness discovered

by Thomas Cole, John Frederick Kensett, William Havell and James David
Smillie), features 50 of the engravings and lithographs of Adirondack landscape
paintings that brought these images to a wider audience and provides many Americans
their first look at the Adirondack Mountains, reveals photographs sold as

Years of Adirondack Quilts and Comforters" - includes historical quilts
from the museum's textile collection, contemporary quilts, comforters and
pieced wall hangings on loan from regional quilters. This exhibit will
also explore themes of women's work, domestic life, social networks in a rural
area, generational continuity among women, and women's artistic response to
life in the Adirondacks. It will connect the past with the present
through familiar household objects. Visitors can recreate a pattern from

Adirondack Food Traditions" - examines the universal experience of
preparing, presenting, and eating a meal while focusing on Adirondack culinary
stories and traditions, as well as conveying the story of food in the
Adirondacks to the present day. Learn about objects the Adirondacks have
used to cook and eat, and how hand-written menus and journals provided an
intimate look at food in family life; view posters advertising turkey
shoots, dances, and potluck supper identifying the ways food has served as the
centerpiece of social life in small isolated hamlets; examine historic
photographs spanning more than 150 years showing people dining inside, in
crowded mess halls, on picnic blankets, and seated at elegant tables/
