Learn about the history of life during the 1800’s in Hartford, a small Upper New York State rural community, and the participation of Hartford citizens in the Civil War. Both buildings, the museum and Howard Hanna Memorial Civil War Enlistment Center, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Hartford Museum
Housed in the oldest remaining house (early 1800’s) in the hamlet of Hartford, exhibits furniture, books, educational items displays, memorabilia – all depicting Hartford History.
The Civil War Enlistment Center
The only Civl War enlistment center left in New York State, is where Hartford men actually enlisted in Co. E. 123rd Regt. New York State Volunteers during the Civil War. Find out about their service to the Union, and their 3000 mile 3 year journey to glory.
Both the museum and center are operated and maintained by the Hartford Historical Group. Open 1-4PM on Sundays (July and August) or at other times by appointment.
