It’s a midsummer vacation dream here in Lake George! With August upon us, the region is set into high gear – everything is electrifying, exciting, and brimming with things to do! You name it – you’ll find it here it Lake George. August 2012 events & activities are aplenty this summer, and the variety of options will please all ages. So, if you are visiting Lake George and the surrounding area this August and planning on going to the attractions, beaches, museums, hiking trails, restaurants, shops, and so forth – make sure to accommodate many of the calendar events & activities in your schedule, you won’t be disappointed. In fact, you may very likely be amazed as to what’s going on! Try and fit in at least one event each day you’re here in the region, it will truly make it enjoyable, unique & unforgettable!

Upcoming Events for August 2012:

Lake George Events & Lake George Area events this August 2012 are amazing, to say the least. Scheduled events on the Lake George Events Calendar for this summer include a well-rounded mixture of selections to choose from. Here’s a summarized review! For music enthusiasts, enjoy the many free outdoor concerts in the park, which you’ll find everywhere in your travels – from Lake George, Bolton Landing, Hague & Ticonderoga – to Thurman, Chestertown, Lake Luzerne, Saratoga Springs & more! Many other musical performance options are available as well – from the Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC – to special chamber music concerts at community facilities.  How about some Shakespeare? The Adirondack Shakepeare Company will be performing classic Shakespeare plays outdoors throughout the Adirondack Park – including Hamlet & The Twelfth Night. If you’re interested in historical lectures – there’s The French & Indian War Society lectures at the Fort William Henry, or the Johnsburg Historical Society talks at the North Creek Train Depot Museum. If historical encampments, reenactments & performances are more of your liking, don’t miss the “Surrender of Fort William Henry,” Fort Ticonderoga’s “1759 British Living History,” or the “Last of the Mohicans Outdoor Drama.” For those who would like to meet some Adirondack artists & authors – check out the many “meet & greets” & book-signings. Fireworks anyone? There’s no shortage of spectacular displays here – check out the Thursday night fireworks in Lake George Village, as well as others scheduled at select community festivals. Speaking of festivals, August boast some authentic Adirondack festivities – including the Stony Creek Mountain Days Festival, Horicon Day, Adirondack Folk Festival, New York State Canal Splash, and the Lake George Family Festival. How about kids stuff! There’s certainly no shortage of kids events & programs – visit with live birds of prey (owls, hawks & falcons), learn about solar energy & Adirondack insects, try a corn maze adventure, or enjoy Rock-N-Skate entertainment. For nature enthusiasts – partake in guided hiking excursions or storytelling nature walks deep into the mystical & majestic Adirondack Park.
