Over 200 years ago, the Fortress was built by British order to defend the colonies from an anticipated French advance. Surviving two brutal years of French and Indian attacks, the Fort was finally destroyed in 1757. The Fortress has been faithfully restored and once again stands proudly overlooking Lake George. The Museum is open daily and guided tours are conducted hourly. British redcoats show live demonstrations of cannon and musket firing, grenade tossing and musket ball molding. Located in the Fort, the Sutler Shoppe features unique gifts and memorabilia. Also at the Fort we have THE SPIRITS OF HISTORY GHOST TOURS - with 300+ years of history, there are bound to be some ghost stories! The guided tour of ghostly places is offered weekends (Memorial Day – October 13th) and nightly (July 4th– Labor Day). Tours begin at 7:00PM. Lanterns will be provided and tours run rain or shine. We will be providing two shows daily at 11AM and 2PM and we also have scheduled special guests throughout the season to join our shows. We will also be holding Buck-A-Roo birthday parties at the ranch with several party package options. We do western riding lessons from start to finish and will supply a horse for your lessons, or you may use your own if you wish. We have gold panning to go along with the wagon rides or you can just enjoy the petting zoo and the Wild West Ranch. We look forward to seeing you at the ranch this summer. (518) 668-5700.
