The month of May marks the kickoff to the new season in the Lake George Region – with magnificent weather, blooming & lush landscapes, and abundant activities & events. All area businesses will be opening their doors and welcoming visitors & locals to come and enjoy their attractions, shop in their stores, eat in their restaurants, and take pleasure in all that the Lake George Region has to offer! Celebrate the beautiful weather by fully enjoying outdoor recreational activitiesswimming in our lakes, hiking on our trails, and fishing in our Adirondack waters. Undoubtedly, you’ll find no place like Lake George!

    While visiting the region, delight in some of these popular Lake George area May 2013 events:

    May Weekend 1: The first weekend of May boasts a variety of regional annual events. For an adventurous outdoor weekend, visit North Creek’s Adirondack Adventure Festival (May 3-5, 2013) – featuring family fun activities… river raft rides, guided hikes, music, food, and the 56th Annual Hudson River Whitewater Derby (May 4-5, 2013) for kayakers & canoers. For those who prefer to hunt for some treasures, check out the Lake George Village-Wide Garage Sale (May 4-5, 2013) 9AM-5PM each day. How about tasting some craft beers & ales? Don’t miss out on the Glens Falls Brewfest (May 4, 2013) – a benefit event featuring local, regional & national brewers 4-8PM at the Queensbury Hotel. That’s not all this weekend! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at two Lake George Village eateries: SJ Garcia’s Mexican & American Restaurant and Pablo’s Burrito Cantina. They will be having fun-filled Cinco de Mayo parties during the entire weekend (May 3-5, 2013) – featuring tequila tastings, chili eating contests, mustache contests, giveaways, pinatas, lunch & dinner specials, drink specials, live music & more! Don’t forget about the Kentucky Derby… watch the derby at Christies on the Lake in Lake George Village (May 4, 2013) at 6PM, followed by live entertainment.

    May Weekend 2: The second weekend in May is Mother’s Day Weekend. It’s the perfect time to pamper mom by showering her with gifts, taking her out to eat, treating her to Bolton Landing’s Girlfriend’s Getaway (May 10-12, 2013) a women’s retreat weekend at the Sagamore Resort to “relax her body, renew her mind, and refresh her spirit,” or surprising her with a Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch Cruise (May 12, 2013) on Lake George aboard the Lake George Steamboat Company‘s Lac Du Saint Sacrement 12-2PM.

    May Weekend 3: The third weekend in May will be busy in Lake George Village. Formerly known as Queen’s Boat Race Weekend, the Lake George Performance Weekend (May 17-19, 2013) will be taking place – displaying a high performance boat offshore demonstration race, sailboat race, custom cars, and motorcycles on Beach Road. Another exciting Lake George Village event, and new this year, will be the 1st Annual Italian Festival & Craft Show (May 18-19, 2013) – featuring Italian festivities: food, wine, entertainment, activities, craft vendors and much more – happening throughout Shepard Park and on Canada Street.

    May Weekend 4: The fourth weekend in May is Memorial Day Weekend – considered the official jumpstart weekend to the Region by many. Immerse yourself in the assortment of fun that awaits you. The Lake George Region will be busy, exciting, and full of things to do! For a list of the area’s Memorial Day Weekend services, ceremonies, and parades – please visit the Memorial Day Weekend Page. Other weekend events not to miss include Fort Ticonderoga‘s 17th Annual Open Epee Competition (May 25, 2013) and while you’re their, discover the opening day of their King’s Garden. For those who love crafts, there will be 30-40 crafters selling their unique work at the Bolton Landing Emergency Squad Arts & Crafts (May 25-26, 2013) 10AM-4PM.

    The end of May and into the beginning of June features a few significant events to check out. Are you and Elvis fan? Then the 10th Annual Lake George Elvis Festival (May 29 – June 2, 2013) will be sure to please featuring over 60 Elvis tribute artists performing throughout Lake George. Another popular Lake George event happening the same weekend is the 30th annual ESTRA Tow Truck Convention (May 31 – June 2, 2013) – displaying tow trucks on display, demonstrations & activities at the Fort William Henry. For the motorcycle enthusiasts, the 31st Annual Americade Convention (June 1-8, 2013) – the largest multi-brand motorcycle touring rally that will take place throughout the entire greater region, and will be extending their event this year to 8 full days!
